With an abundance of forest land, Marquette offers a breadth of biking and hiking trails to get out into the outdoors with ease, no matter your skill level. Known for its iron ore, Marquette County showcases its history with interpretive trails like the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. This 47-mile multi-use trail is great for walks, running, biking, and more. With views of the Superior shoreline, informational signage, and urban areas along the way, there’s something to be enjoyed by all.

Hike up to Sugarloaf Mountain, a moderate 1.2 mi trail with panoramic views from the top of Lake Superior and many of Marquette's most popular attractions, including the Superior Dome, Presque Isle Park, Little Presque Isle, Hogsback Mountain, and more. Interested in chasing waterfalls? Morgan Falls is a quick 2.8 mi hike. The trailhead to Morgan Falls also offers biking trails for those looking for more thrill.

Water 体育

If you prefer to spend your days on the water, Marquette is the ideal vacation spot.

Teal Lake is perfect for those looking to fish or kayak. Another great option is Deer Lake, which offers high catch rates of walleye and northern pike. This lake consists of two elongated basins that provide more than 900 acres of quality catch-and-release fishing. Boat and shore fishing is allowed, except along the county road shoulder on the lake’s edge.

Make the Most of Winter

There's still plenty to do here in the U.P. during the wintertime. Explore the area’s designated trails aboard a snowmobile for backcountry fun. Be sure to check out the slopes and get in a few runs at Marquette Mountain.
